Goal Setting

MacKenzie is in this phase of being stubborn, complaining to do things when we ask her to, and she just does the bare minimum. she is the oldest sibling in the family so we expect alot from her and she is the example to Tyla and Ryker.

We don't really do allowance so we came up with this game plan and it is really working!

We gave her a glass jar and we have a huge bag of marbles and one week we set a goal together that she has to do everyday without us telling her and if she does it she gets to put a marble in the jar and then the next week we set another goal to do everyday in addition to the previous weeks goal and she gets a marble for each chore she does and if she does other chores we give her a marble to put in the jar! She has to remember to do these without us telling her or asking her or she doesn't get the marble. This way she is learning how to be independent and responsible. When the jar is completely full of marbles she gets to pick somewhere to go and bring one friend and we get a sitter for the other kids to stay home! She picked Amazing Jakes to go to when her jar is full! It is amazing how excited she is to get a marble and how bad she wants to achieve her goal of getting the jar full! It is nice to have her wake up every morning and make her bed without me asking her too! She is also trying to help more around the house and she is creating some great habits and routines.

I think it is so important to set goals and teach our kids the importance of goal setting and finding the great reward at the end for achieving them!
