Find Joy in the Journey

Yep it is true that there are people out there that are that cold hearted and stole most of the money that Pizza Fusion earned for the parents that lost their two sons in a car accident. The robbers broke in that night and took it. It brakes my heart what these parents are going through I can't ever imagine losing my kids and then for someone to come along and take that money to help them with the funeral expenses it is so wrong!

Last Sunday I was so tired and didn't feel well so I took a late afternoon nap and MacKenzie came in the room woke me up already dressed for church and said "get up Mom we have to go to church" I was so bugged I just wanted to sleep, but how could I stay in bed and not go after that? So I got up and got ready (I looked like crap)and went to church and when we were in relief society we talked about our theme for the year "Find Joy in the Journey" and we talked about how we think this year is going to be challenging in this economic times and how we need to be prepared. We talked about instead of getting down and frustrated and giving up that we need to find Joy in this journey that we are embarking and it really hit me in so many ways. Times are really tough right now my husband is in real estate and all you hear about from people and the news is what a "bad market" it is and it is really frustrating for my husband and myself to hear, but instead of getting down my husband has taken on some amazing opportunities and keeps up his positive energy and I believe has found joy in this journey.

I also couldn't help but think of my sweet princess Tyla who is autistic and has made things very challenging and extremely emotional for me and for my family, but I have found so much Joy and peace in this journey as well because I didn't give up and just accepted the fact that she will be this way for the rest of her life because she won't. I have learned so much to help her and I can't believe how well she is doing and I just know she is going to get better from here. Her treatments, hours of therapies and her diet have helped her so much and I find so much Joy seeing these results in her.

We went on to talk about food storage and how important it is and our bishop gave us a challenge just for that week to not go grocery shopping and only eat what is in your house right now for the whole week!! I shamelessly admit that it did not last in my house we had hardly any food and with Tyla's special diet not being able to eat any gluten or dairy I was not prepared at all! I really needed this to be called out on how I am not prepared and not even thinking about my Tyla and having the food she needs in our food storage. I ran across this and thought it was very helpful and I hope to do some food storage once a month possibly even get a group of friends together to do it with so I don't put it off!!

Leaving church that night (we have 3:00 church)I couldn't help but think about how grateful I was for my seven year old daughter to get my lazy booty out of bed and make me go to church that day I truly felt inspired and look forward to the journey ahead.

Back to the Pizza Fusion Robbery as Jeff's sister told the world on the news this will not get us down and this has brought this big but yet small community of Mesa together and people have been coming to the restaurant writing checks out for this family. I feel Joy in knowing that there are good people out there and I am very grateful.

There is so much negativity in this world. It is everywhere! It is on the news, it is at work, schools EVERYWHERE!

This year my husband participated with me with the "one word" new years resolution and he chose the word POSITIVE and it has been great to have him remind me everytime I get down whether it is about money, kids, work whatever to be more positive and that life is what you make it.

Sorry I have rambled on I have been around some negativity lately and thought I would remind myself of the special blessings I have. Now I need to go watch the bachelor!!!

Got any plans this weekend?

Apparently Kenzi had her own ideas of what she wanted to do this weekend. I was doing laundry and the kids have been playing outside for hours this morning, it was a little quiet and I realized I am on my fourth load of laundry already so I decided to check on the girls and this is what I found...
What better to do on a cloudy January morning, but to ride your bike in a swimsuit!

Need something else to do today anyone?? Stop on over to Jeff's sisters restaurant Pizza Fusion's Grand Opening (McKellips just west of Recker)They are having jumping gyms, face painting, and yummy food! Great times for the kiddos! They are also having a silent auction for Jeff's cousin who was involved in a tragic accident killing her two sons. There are tons of items to bid on to help these poor parents bury their two sons. Today 1-5 PM

Why have a yard sale???

My yard sale was a huge success!! I am more excited about the fact that I got rid of stuff that we don't need anymore and that was cluttering my house, but I am also excited that I made enough to buy Kenzi a beach cruiser bike! Kenzi has had the same bike for almost three years now and was way too big for it and so I needed to make some mula to buy her a new one and Jeff even stole some of my hard earned money to play golf! I think I am going to clean out some more closets so I can have another sale, I need a new rocking chair!

Zoo Lights

We finally made it to Zoo Lights! I will admit that we were only there for an hour. We enjoy the zoo more during the day where we can see the animals, but we had a good time and at least I got some cute pictures of the girls.

One Little Word

My friend Ashley posted on her blog what her one word resolution is and I thought
this was such a great idea because I usually have a long list of resolutions and it is always too much and not reasonable to achieve so I thought I would participate and my word is.....
ORGANIZE

For those of you who don't already know this OCD runs in my family and I seem to get worse with age and I have been so unorganized this past year and I obsess over it and can't relax or clear my mind until things are done and organized. I know if I get organized this year I can take time to breath and most importantly enjoy time with my family which will also in the end help me achieve more goals I have for my family. This year I hope to get this house together and turn it into a home. I hope to organize all the kids projects, crafts, games, pictures, clothes etc. I will also be helping my sweet husband get organized with his work which I know will save him time and help him out so much.

This was my first "ORGANIZE" Project goal - to clean out my garage so I can park my car in there. Mission accomplished! Thank you to my wonderful husband for helping me get this accomplished.

New Years Eve

Jeff, myself and MacKenzie played an intense game of Monopoly last night that lasted about three hours!! It was so much fun that we decided we are playing again tonight. I must be getting old because it was really hard to stay awake for the new year, but we all managed to do it. I hope everyone has a great new year! I know we will!
