Back to School

I don't even know where to start! My anxiety has been at an all time high the past few works anticipating this school year. Our oldest is in Junior and are youngest in Kindergarten then we have Tyla who has switched schools since she was in Pre school because of the way the public school system works for special needs students. I have three kids at three different schools this yea with three different start and end times. It is seriously insane. I have to get all three kids to all schools before 7:40am! why am I doing this? I am doing this because my kids all have their own needs and yes I could have kept Tyla at our home school at Entz with Ryker and yes it would make me life so so so  much easier but it wasn't a good fit for Tyla.

MacKenzie is going to Stapley Junior high. We are actually Poston boundaries barely. If we lived North of Adobe we would have been Stapley boundaries so really half our neighborhood goes to Stapley and other half Poston. Jeff and I both went to Poston and that would have been cool for her to go there but she picked Stapley and I think it was definitely the right choice. So far she loves it and is happy she has friends in all 7 classs! She loves going early and meeting her friends at the lockers and she loves socializing after school even though I get mad because she has to go straight to cheer fro there and I don't want her late and I can't be late from there to pick Tyla up from her bus. How the heck do I have a 7th grader?!

Tyla is going to a Charter School called Pieceful Solutions. They have two locations the one in Mesa is literally 3 minute drive from our house but it is very small and is a private school so very expensive to go there. The other location is in Chandler where she is attending this year. Fortunately they have a bus that goes from Mesa campus to Chandler campus so I only have to take her to Mesa campus and she jumps on the bus there and then I pick her back up at Mesa campus after school. The good thing is I don't have to drive back and forth to Chandler each day the downfall is she is gone from 6:55 am to 4:35 pm. That is a very long day, but she absolutely loves riding on the bus and ha already made so many friends and is so excited to wake up each morning to go to school! Next year she will be going to their Gilbert campus for Junior high and high school kids only. I am excited she is finally stable at a school and will be there until she graduates and not have to start over each year and make new friends. I am really hoping and praying that this will be the right school for her and so far we really feel strongly we made the right decision. I can't emotionally handle a year like I had last year. Her teacher seems great and friendly. We had Tyla do the schools Summer fun program for the month of June to help the transition easier for her when school started they did bowling and Peter piper pizza each once a week and Tyla became very close to one of the staff members Mrs Karen, she was seriously the funnest, sweetest lady with a heart of gold, I could tell she really loved all those kids. When we walked in Tyla's class for meet the teacher here came Mrs Karen running up to Tyla giving her a huge hug and Tyla's face lit up! She told her she is her aide for her class and I was so relieved! The reason we picked this school was because there is a maximum of 13 students with one teacher and 3 aides. They put the kids in color groups at their tables according to their academic level this way they are actually teaching the students at their actual level. They do yoga, Karate and music each week. They go out in the community once a week to practice life skills such as looking out for cars, learning to stand inline at stores and paying. They have a huge kitchen at each campus where they get to cook once a week and actually learn to measure, pour, wash all the dishes etc. Although her week is long I think she will be just fine and on Friday's they have half day!

Ryker is in Kindergarten at Entz and his teacher Mrs Bessey seems really sweet and I have heard nothing but amazing things about her so we are excited! Ryker told me before school started that maybe he should just stay home with me at least one more year, but when he found out his best buddy Mitchell and his friend Ryker S. are in his class he got excited for school. I think I am more nervous for Ryker because he is so little and he is sensitive and he is such a home body but I hope he has fun and so far he seems good! I will say it is very weird not having him here during the day and when I dropped him off to school his first day I did come home and cry a lot! I didn't do that with my girls, is that weird?

Here's to a new school year with lots of changes!

Meet Roxy!

I still can't believe this as I am sitting here typing! The kids have been begging for years to have a family dog and my response was "Never going to happen ever". Then about a month ago Ryker came up to me crying and I asked him what was wrong and he said he wants a brother! That broke my heart and of course my tears start flowing. Then he looked up to me and said or if I can't have a brother I would love a dog! Ugh! Don't get me wrong I really do love animals especially dogs and I grew up with several and  have he best memories with them, but I just don't like all the responsibility of them especially with kids. who is gong to watch her when we go out of town? Who is going to feed, bath, pick up dog poop etc.?!

So a couple weeks ago I told Jeff I am going to start looking at some rescues and hopefully adopt a dog for our family. His jaw dropped and asked me if I am crazy! We wet and looked at some and kept looking and then I ran across this cutie online from Underdog Rescue of AZ. She was available and dropped off a couple days later to our home. Her name was Cupcake but it didn't really fit her and the lady said since she didn't know her name really that we could change it. I wanted to name her Wrigley because of the Cubs, Kenzi's pick was Cali for California because its our favorite family vacation, and Ryker liked Roxy especially because she has a little white patch on her back that looks like the Roxy sign and Tyla wanted to keep her name Cupcake after all who would ever change their name! The kids couldn't agree with a name so we pulled out of a hat and Roxy it was! Now that I think about it the only reason we got this dog was because of Ryker so I am glad he got to name this dog.

I can't believe I just did a post on a dog!

Oceanside Highlights

Although we went to the beach everyday (not sure where all those pics are) there is always so much other things to do around us. We had so much fun meeting up with all our Mesa friends and all our kids having a great time together. We love how our condo is the place we all meet up and some kids walk across to the beach, while some stay at he pool and Jacuzzi, and others go on boat rides, paddle boarding, peddle boating, shops and to get ice cream. It is great that it is all right by us walking distance. We love our big BBQ's we do especially the one on 4th of July! There is no where I rather be for the 4th than on the beach! Here are some of our favorite highlights:

~Belmont Park
~Carlsbad Outlets (My fave, not so much Jeff's)
~Oceanside mall
~finding sand crabs on the beach
~shopping at our favorite Surf shop in Encinitas
~game night in our condo
~watching the sun go down from our balcony
~fireworks on the beach

Knowing we get to go back next Summer will hopefully help me get through this crazy busy school year!

Boys Fishing Trip

Ryker has been asking Jeff  to take him fishing the past couple months so Jeff decided while we were In Oceanside that would be the perfect time. Donnie and his son Connor wanted to join the fun so they got on a big fishing boat at the harbor right by our condos. It was suppose to be a five hour trip but ended up being over 6 hours which was a little too long for these boys but they had a great time and Ryker caught his very first fish!

The girls wanted to do a photo shoot with their lifeguard sweatshirts so we had them bring them when we did our family pictures so they could throw them on after. They just happened to all be wearing white bottoms and the lifeguard trucks were there also. Score!

Family Pictures on the beach

One of my favorite things to do while at the beach is snap tons of pictures of our kids. I am a little obsessed with taking pictures! I really wanted some family pictures on the beach this year since I didn't really like the ones we did a couple years ago. I hate the stress of doing family pictures so instead of hiring a photographer I asked The Montgomery's if they would like to take each other's family pictures this way the kids can have fun while doing it and I won't be stressed with the photographer there and my kids not behaving! I am so glad  we did it this way, the pictures aren't high quality or anything but I love them and we actually had fun doing them! I think this will be a summer tradition for us!
